    宝珠砂又名电熔陶粒，是石英砂的高级替代品。采用山西优质铝矾土为原料，经煅烧、电熔、造粒、分筛等工艺制成。宝珠砂为球形颗粒，主要成分是氧化铝（Al2O3），成分稳定，不易产生化学变化，它的耐火度可达1900。宝珠砂颗粒圆整且表面存在许多微观孔洞，增强了水玻璃在砂粒表面的成膜能力，提高了酯硬化水玻璃自硬砂常温强度，宝珠砂在酯硬化水玻璃自硬砂中400加热机械干法的再生脱模率相比机械干法提高7。这些为宝珠砂在大型铸钢件生产中的应用提供了指导和参考。实践证明，采用宝珠砂可明显减少机械和化学粘砂，大大减少清砂的劳动强度，集中了耐火度高、流动性好、透气性强等诸多优点，完全解决了夹砂、气孔、结疤、鼠尾等铸造缺陷。
